A man allegedly shot himself dead at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Monday, police said. The incident prompted a swift response from law enforcement officials, who cordoned off the area and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
According to Delhi Police, the man was found with a gunshot wound when officers reached the spot following reports of gunfire. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established.
“He is yet to be identified. Police personnel are stationed at the scene, and the area has been sealed for investigation,” a senior police officer said.
The officer added that the exact sequence of events leading to the man’s death is still being verified. “A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress,” the official said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination after the completion of necessary legal procedures. Police have not recovered any identification documents from the scene and are working to confirm the man’s background and possible motive.
