Maharashtra Felicitates Women’s World Cup Heroes; Fadnavis Awards ₹2.25 Cr Each to Mandhana, Rodrigues & Yadav

Maharashtra state Government on Friday, celebrated its contribution to India’s historic Women’s World Cup 2025 triumph, as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis felicitated Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav and head coach Amol Muzumdar at a ceremony in Mumbai. 


All three players received a cash award of Rs 2.25 crore, while head coach Muzumdar was handed a Rs 25 lakh cheque. 


CM Devendra Fadnavis said the win had given India a moment to cherish forever.

“It’s a matter of great pride that our women’s team has won the ICC Women’s World Cup title for the first time. They met the Prime Minister and the President, and we too wanted to welcome the entire squad. Since Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav and coach Amol Muzumdar are from Maharashtra, we decided to honour them here first,” 


The CM also highlighted the journey of coach Amol Muzumdar and praised his relentless efforts in shaping the team’s World Cup victory. “Your journey is truly an inspiration for everyone. The records you set in first-class cricket have gone viral across the country. I believe a truly inspiring film will soon be made on you,” the CM said.


Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also hailed the team’s achievement, saying it had placed India firmly on the global cricket map. Sharing his thoughts on X, he wrote that the victory was “not just a cricketing milestone but a moment of national pride.”


Ajit Pawar said, “The women’s cricket team has won hearts across the nation. This achievement will inspire countless girls from rural areas. With the right opportunities, they too can represent the country at the international level.”
