Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has claimed that India is “preparing for another war”, months a military standoff between the two cointries in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Speaking at a joint sitting of Pakistan’s Parliament, Zardari alleged that New Delhi was gearing up for renewed hostilities against Islamabad. His remarks came amid noisy protests from opposition members inside the House.
Despite levelling the accusation, the Pakistani President struck a conciliatory note, urging India to choose dialogue over escalation. “My message to them (India) is to move away from the war theatre to meaningful negotiation tables, because that is the only path for regional security,” he said during his address.
India and Pakistan were engaged in a four-day military stand-off in May 2025 after New Delhi launched Operation Sindoor. The operation targeted what India described as terrorist camps and infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Pakistan responded with drone strikes, prompting India to impose a blackout along parts of the Line of Control and the International Border as tensions intensified.
