A 48 year old man, who runs a private car for school students was arrested by the Mumbai Police for allegedly sexually assaulting three girls of ages eight, nine and eleven years from the Juhu area.
According to reports, the alleged assault occurred on November 13, but the matter surfaced two days later when one of the girls narrated the incident to her mother, using the idea of “good touch and bad touch” to describe what she went through. The mother then approached the Santacruz police on November 15 and filed a complaint. An FIR was registered the same day and later shifted to the Juhu police station for further action.
According to the police officer, the accused first groped the 11-year-old, slipping his hands inside her uniform. The victim also told her mother that Shaikh molested her two friends in a similar manner, said in FIR.
Police clarified that the school was not involved in the incident, as the accused, Gulzar Shaikh, operates his own private van and only picks up and drops off students outside the campus. He was later arrested from his home in Santacruz West. Shaikh has been booked under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for sexual harassment and Section 8 of the POCSO Act for sexual assault.
An investigation is underway to determine whether the accused has committed similar offences in the past.
