Delhi Schools and Colleges Evacuated After Multiple Bomb Threats

Several schools and colleges in New Delhi received bomb threats on Wednesday morning, prompting quick evacuation of students from institution premises. According to reports, the campuses of Ramjas College and Deshbandhu College of Delhi University (DU), along with multiple schools across the city, received ominous emails warning of planted explosives.

Delhi Police immediately launched a probe into the matter, deploying bomb disposal squads, sniffer-dog units, fire services, and police, while evacuating students and staff to safer precincts.  As of now, preliminary investigations have found no suspicious devices or materials, and the threats are currently treated as hoaxes.

Meanwhile, The Indian School issued a notification to the guardians of the students outlining the phased dispersal of students in the wake of the bomb threat. “Dear Parents, the school has received a bomb threat via email. As a precautionary measure, the school is dispersing the children. You are requested to kindly come and collect your child as per the schedule below: Nursery to Class 2: 9:30 AM, Class 3 to 5: 9:45 AM, Class 6 to 8: 9:55 AM, Class 9 and above: 10:15 AM,” the notification stated.

Another Ahlcon International School issued a similar notice advising parents to ensure timely pick-up of children. Schools in Lakshmi Nagar and Sadiq Nagar also received emails threatening bomb explosions.

Notably, this comes exactly a month after the capital city was rocked by a deadly explosion near Red Fort, which left nearly 20 dead and a dozen more injured. The blast, which took place near the Gate-1 of the Lal Quila Metro Station, triggered widespread panic, gutted vehicles and nearby shops, and forced authorities to shut down the metro station and restrict public access to the heritage site as investigations commenced.

Soon after the explosion, law enforcement agencies registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosives Act, with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other security forces assuming charge of the probe. Authorities described the incident as a suspected terror attack by “anti-national forces,” and investigations are ongoing to trace the perpetrators, their collaborators, and any sponsoring networks.
