Amit Shah Orders Multi-Agency Probe Into Deadly Delhi Car Blast

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday directed a multi-agency investigation into a powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed at least 8 people and injured many others. He visited Lok Nayak Hospital to meet the injured.

“This evening, around 7 p.m., a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort in Delhi. The blast injured some pedestrians and damaged some vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate that some people have lost their lives,” Shah said.

He added that Delhi Police’s Crime Branch and Special Branch reached the spot within minutes, while teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) have begun a detailed probe. “We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, taking all possibilities into account,” he said.

The Union Home Minister spoke to Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and Intelligence Bureau chief Tapan Deka, directing a coordinated inquiry by multiple agencies.

Security has been tightened across the capital, with forensic teams collecting evidence and reviewing CCTV footage from the area. An NIA team is assisting Delhi Police in determining the cause and nature of the explosion.
