Al-Falah University Professor Behind Red Fort Blast, DNA Test Reveals

Delhi Police on Thursday officially confirmed that the individual responsible for the high-intensity explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort was identified as Dr Umar Un Nabi, following a forensic DNA match with his mother’s sample.

According to sources, Dr Umar had been driving the Hyundai i20 car packed with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) that detonated near the Red Fort metro station on November 10, 2025.

To confirm the identity of the suspect, DNA samples of Dr Umar’s mother and brother were collected and sent to the AIIMS forensic laboratory, where they matched with biological remains preserved at Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi.

As per officials, “A DNA test confirmed that the man who carried out the blast near Red Fort was Dr Umar Un Nabi. After the blast, his leg was stuck between the steering wheel and accelerator. His DNA sample matched with his mother.”

Umar was serving as an assistant professor at Al-Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad district. He was believed to be linked to a terror module that had been busted in Faridabad following the recovery of explosives.

Hailing from Koil village in Lethpora, Pulwama, Umar allegedly carried explosives suspected to be ammonium nitrate in the car that later exploded near the Red Fort.

However, before the blast, Umar had been parked in the Sunehri Masjid parking lot near Red Fort for almost three hours, browsing online for updates about his associates’ arrests in Faridabad.

The Delhi Police also traced an 11-hour movement trail of his vehicle prior to the explosion.
