At least 813 out of 1,563 candidates who had been awarded grace marks in the NEET-UG exam appeared for the retest adminstered by the NTA. This decision followed a Supreme Court order due to delays at six exam centers during the May 5 test. The retest was conducted across seven centers, with 750 candidates opting not to participate.

Amid allegations of irregularities, the NTA also barred 17 candidates from Bihar and 30 from Gujarat's Godhara for exam malpractices. In total, 63 candidates were previously debarred nationwide. The controversy prompted the Central Bureau of Investigation to file a First Information Report based on complaints of paper leaks, with special teams dispatched to investigate.

Despite the retest opportunity, 48% of eligible students chose not to appear, according to the NTA. The examination took place amidst ongoing legal challenges, with the Supreme Court addressing petitions seeking cancellation of the 2024 NEET-UG and requesting a court-monitored probe.

The Union Health Ministry on Saturday announced the postponement of the NEET-PG examination, originally slated for June 23. A new date for the examination will be announced soon, notified the ministry. The announcement comes in the midst of ongoing controversies surrounding the NEET-UG results and the cancellation of the UGC-NET examination.

The NEET UG exams, administered by the NTA, have been mired in several controversies, including allegations of leaked papers, issues with grading, and irregularities in exam administration. Similarly, the UGC-NET exams, also under the NTA's purview, were canceled due to concerns over exam integrity.

In the midst of these controversies surrounding the NTA, the government has removed Subodh Kumar Singh from his role as Director-General of the NTA and placed him on compulsory leave. Retired IAS officer Pradeep Singh Kharola will temporarily assume additional responsibilities during this period.
