Uddhav Thackeray Launches Scathing Attack on BJP, RSS at Dussehra Rally

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray launched a scathing attack on the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during his Dussehra rally at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, sharpening his offensive ahead of the crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. Thackeray accused the BJP of engaging in “vote chori” (vote theft) and fostering communal division for electoral gain.

“The Centre has money to buy votes in Bihar but does not have funds for rain-ravaged Maharashtra,” said Thackeray, taking a swipe at the Modi government’s alleged apathy towards the state’s struggling farmers.

He linked the BJP to a harmful organism that disrupts peace. “BJP has become like an amoeba; it causes stomach ache when it enters the body, and disrupts peace when it enters society,” Thackeray said, drawing applause from party workers.

In a pointed criticism of the RSS, Thackeray questioned the outcomes of its century-long existence. “Are you satisfied with the poisonous fruits born from RSS’ 100-year effort?” he asked. Taking aim at RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, he added, “Has the Sangh turned into a Brahmarakshas instead of Brahma? Look up the meaning of the word.”

He further challenged the BJP over recent reports suggesting the RSS is trying to build bridges with the Muslim community. “If that is true, then I ask the BJP — do you have the courage to say that Mohan Bhagwat has abandoned Hindutva?”

Accusing the BJP of once again attempting to inflame communal tensions in the lead-up to the Mumbai civic polls, Thackeray said, “BJP is again attempting to divide Hindus and Muslims,” warning the electorate to be vigilant.

On the agrarian crisis, he demanded swift and substantial relief for farmers affected by excessive rainfall. “We demand ₹50,000 per hectare and complete loan waivers. If not, we will protest in Marathwada,” he warned.

Thackeray also promised to expose what he described as the BJP’s “loot” of the BMC if his party wins the upcoming civic polls. “After the elections, we will release a White Paper on BJP’s corruption in BMC,” he declared.
