“Trump is running India…”: Sanjay Raut Slams PM Modi, Questions Government’s Stance on Sovereignty, Trade, and Foreign Influence

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of surrendering India’s sovereignty to the United States. His remarks came in response to Trump’s earlier proposal to mediate the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan.
Raut questioned Modi’s strongman image and nationalist rhetoric, stating, “You speak of bringing enemies to their knees, but Trump deciding to mediate in Kashmir is an insult to our sovereignty. Is this the same 56-inch chest we were promised?”
The Rajya Sabha MP alleged that the Prime Minister was relying on the United States for both economic and diplomatic decisions. “You’ll talk trade with Trump and PoK with Pakistan—but only after asking Trump for permission? It’s as if Trump runs India now,” Raut remarked.
He further claimed that India’s policy is being dictated by international business interests, adding, “Businessmen may rule here, but they’re puppets of foreign tycoons. Where’s your patriotism when American interests override our own?”
Raut also expressed concern over the government’s prioritisation of trade over national pride and sacrifices made by soldiers. “Business is not bigger than the nation. The lives of our soldiers mean more than any trade deal. The world is open for trade—not just America. Trump is building a trade mafia here,” he said.
Escalating his criticism, Raut alleged that a deal was struck involving industrialist Gautam Adani, claiming that Trump threatened the Indian government over its stance on war. “He told the government—stop the war or we’ll arrest Adani. The deal was made. The nation was compromised,” Raut claimed.
Mocking the BJP’s nationalistic displays, Raut said, “They do flag marches, but maybe they should carry American flags and Trump’s posters instead. The Prime Minister’s speech was hollow—he halted action when our armed forces were ready to break Pakistan.”
Concluding his statement, Raut said the BJP may attempt to dismantle opposition parties, but they will not succeed in silencing dissent. “You can break parties, not the opposition spirit,” he said.
