In a heartfelt message following the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi described the former Prime Minister as a leader who embodied "wisdom, nobility, and humility." Dr. Singh, an economist and a towering figure in Indian politics, passed away at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and transformative leadership.

Sonia Gandhi, in her message, mourned the loss of a man who had been a guiding light not just for the Congress party but for the entire nation. “In Dr. Manmohan Singh’s passing, we have lost a leader who was the epitome of wisdom, nobility and humility, who served our country with all his heart and mind,” she wrote. She went on to highlight Dr. Singh’s profound impact on the lives of millions, noting that his "compassion and vision transformed and empowered the lives of millions of Indians."

Dr. Singh, who served as India's Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, was widely respected across the political spectrum. His tenure was marked by economic reforms, global diplomacy, and a commitment to India’s development. Sonia Gandhi underscored his stature not only within India but on the international stage as well, saying, “He was loved by the people of India for his pure heart and fine mind,” and was "respected and admired by leaders and scholars all over the world."

The former Congress President also reflected on her personal relationship with Dr. Singh, calling his death a "deeply personal loss." She described him as a "friend, philosopher, and guide," and praised his unwavering commitment to values such as social justice, secularism, and democracy. “He was so gentle in his manner but so resolute in his deeply held convictions,” Sonia Gandhi recalled, adding that Dr. Singh’s integrity, honesty, and humility were truly inspiring.

Sonia concluded her short message by emphasising the indelible mark Dr. Singh had left on Indian society and politics. "We in the Congress Party, and the people of India will forever be proud and grateful that we had a leader like Dr. Manmohan Singh whose contributions to India's progress and development are immeasurable." As India mourns the loss of one of its most respected leaders, his legacy, Sonia Gandhi concluded, will continue to inspire generations to come.
