Rohit Pawar Meets Sonia Gandhi, Kharge Over Ajit Pawar Plane Crash Probe

41 days since the plane crash involving Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, yet no FIR has been registered by any police station in the state, which led to NCP MLA Rohit Pawar meeting several INDIA alliance leaders in Delhi to raise the issue and seek support for a discussion in Parliament.

On Tuesday, Rohit Pawar met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, and former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram in Delhi.

Sharing details of the meetings on X, Pawar said, “While in Delhi discussing Ajit Dada’s plane crash with some Members of Parliament, I also met senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. During the meeting, Kharge ji briefed Sonia Gandhi about the detailed discussion that had taken place earlier and mentioned that this is a very serious matter.

“I also met senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, and briefly explained the issue of Ajit Dada’s suspicious plane crash to them. All these leaders expressed concern about the incident. I am confident that they will cooperate in ensuring justice for Ajit Dada.”

Pawar further said, “If the state and the Centre are run by governments of the same ideology, often referred to as a ‘double-engine government’, it is generally believed that proposals sent by the state government are quickly approved by the Centre. However, despite the state government demanding a CBI inquiry into the accident of a popular leader like Ajit Dada, the Centre has not taken any action. This is difficult to understand," said the Pawar.

“In the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the Centre initiated a CBI investigation within two days after the Bihar government requested it. Why is the same prompt action not being taken in Ajit Dada’s case?”

He also added, “Today, MLAs from the NCP Ajit Dada faction met the Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum demanding a CBI inquiry, and I thank them for that. However, it raises an important question: why should leaders who are part of the government have to submit a memorandum to the same government?

“Submitting a memorandum alone will not be enough. We will have to fight this battle with full strength. I hope everyone will put their full effort into ensuring justice," Pawar added.
