PM Modi to Address Nation Tonight Amid Ceasefire with Pakistan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 8 pm on Monday. The address comes 48 hours after India and Pakistan agreed to halt all military activity across land, sea, and air.
The ceasefire understanding followed four days of intense cross-border strikes that raised alarm over the possibility of a wider conflict.
Operation Sindoor was launched by Indian armed forces on the night of May 6–7 in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The operation targeted nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, reportedly resulting in the deaths of over 100 militants.
Following India’s strikes, Pakistan launched retaliatory attacks on May 8, 9, and 10, attempting to target Indian military installations. The Indian response involved a series of coordinated strikes on key Pakistani military facilities, including bases at Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian.
Precision munitions were also used to destroy radar sites at Pasrur and the Sialkot aviation base, inflicting heavy damage on Pakistani infrastructure.
Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghai confirmed that 35 to 40 Pakistani military personnel were killed in the exchanges. He stated that India had achieved its “desired operational objectives.”
Lt. Gen. Ghai is expected to hold a second round of talks with his Pakistani counterpart later this evening, continuing the communication initiated on Saturday that led to the ceasefire agreement.
This evening’s address by the Prime Minister is expected to outline the government’s stance on the recent conflict, the terms of the ceasefire, and India’s future course of action in the region.
