“Delhi is Free from Him”: Former AAP Leader Slams Arvind Kejriwal as BJP Takes Lead in Poll Results

Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas, who has been critical of Arvind Kejriwal in the past, strongly reacted to the ongoing Delhi Assembly election results, which indicate a victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The ruling AAP is facing significant setbacks, with party convener Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia both on track to lose their seats. Kejriwal was defeated by BJP’s Parvesh Verma in New Delhi, while Sisodia lost to BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah in Jangpura.

"I have no sympathy for Kejriwal," he said, adding, "I hope they [BJP] work for the people of Delhi. I have no sympathy for the man who crushed the dreams of AAP workers. Delhi is now free from him. He used those dreams for his personal ambitions. Justice has been served today."

Vishwas also shared an emotional moment, recalling how his non-political wife reacted to Sisodia’s defeat: "When I heard about Manish Sisodia’s defeat from Jangpura, my non-political wife broke down in tears."

Veteran activist Anna Hazare, who was once associated with AAP, also weighed in on the election outcome, emphasising the importance of integrity in politics. "I have long maintained that candidates should have integrity, good values, and a clean image. They failed to understand this and got entangled in liquor and money scandals, which tarnished Kejriwal’s image and led to fewer votes," Hazare said.

He continued, "People saw that Kejriwal spoke about character but got involved in liquor-related controversies. Allegations are common in politics, but one must prove innocence. When the initial meetings happened, I decided not to be part of AAP, and I have maintained my distance since then."

As the vote count continues, it appears almost certain that the BJP will return to power in Delhi after 27 years. AAP’s top leaders, including Kejriwal and Sisodia, have lost their seats, marking a major shift in the political landscape of the national capital.
