Aditya Thackeray calls Mahayuti "April Fool Govt', for imposing 'Adani Jaziya Kar'

Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray criticized the Mahayuti government, calling it the "April Fool Government" of Maharashtra. Thackeray also raised concerns over a new tax imposed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on solid waste management, which he claimed was an unnecessary burden on taxpayers.

"As I mentioned earlier, the Deonar dumping ground in Mumbai has been handed over to Adani, despite BMC's opposition. Now, Adani has asked the government to clean the Deonar dumping ground before transferring it. The clean-up will cost approximately Rs 2,500 to 3,000 crore, which will be taken from taxpayers' pockets," Thackeray said. “This is 'Adani Jaziya Kar' April fool govt is taking from the pocket of the Mumbaikar to clean the Deonar Dumping Ground and giving it to Adani,” he added.

Thackeray questioned the financial priorities of the current administration. "We made BMC a surplus body with Rs 90,000 crore in reserves. So why is the government imposing this 'Adani tax'? This move clearly benefits Adani, and we should oppose it," he asserted.

He further stated that when the BMC was under the control of Shiv Sena (UBT), no hidden taxes were imposed on Mumbaikars. "However, our government had exempted houses up to 500 sq ft from the waste management tax. Now, the 'April Fool' government of Devendra Fadnavis is imposing a Rs 100 monthly tax, which is expected to increase in the future," he added.

He also demanded that the government first collect the Rs 7,500 crore premium from Adani for the Dharavi redevelopment project before burdening citizens with additional taxes. "They are waiving off Adani's taxes while squeezing money from Mumbaikars," Thackeray alleged.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader announced plans to mobilize public opposition against the tax. "We will visit households, ask citizens to fill objection forms, and later organize protests," he stated.
