Security Alert: Hoax Bomb Threats Disrupt Court Proceedings in Delhi and Mumbai

The Bombay High Court premises was evacuated on Friday following a bomb scare, shortly after a similar threat prompted the evacuation of the Delhi High Court earlier in the day.

The Bombay Bar Association instructed all members and staff to vacate the court premises as a precautionary measure.

Mumbai Police confirmed that bomb detection squads are currently conducting thorough searches inside the court premises. However, preliminary findings suggest that the threat may be a hoax.

Howerer Today, In Delhi, all court hearings were halted after a bomb threat email was received at the High Court, prompting immediate evacuation. A bomb detection and disposal unit was deployed, and the area was sealed off. After extensive checks, authorities did not find any suspicious items, police officials said.

The threatening email, sent under the name "Kanimozhi Thevidiya", alleged that a judge’s chamber at the Delhi High Court would be "detonated shortly". It also warned of plans to “recreate” the 1998 Coimbatore blasts in Patna later in the day and threatened an acid attack on the son of DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin, Inbanithi.

The email contained politically charged messages, claiming that “secular parties depend on allowing family dynasty politics and corruption to thrive” and accusing them of losing interest in combating the BJP and RSS when heirs like Rahul Gandhi and Udhayanidhi Stalin are kept out of power. It further stated that in order to “create a new evolution of secular leadership,” certain individuals would be “eliminated,” and proposed Dr. Ezhilan Naganathan as a replacement to lead the DMK.

The threat message went on to claim that police agencies would not suspect an insider job, asserting that “assets within the Police have been sown since 2017, for this Holy Friday.” It also mentioned that the alleged blast in Delhi High Court would be used to validate past hoaxes.

Additionally, the email provided contact details for obtaining locations and codes related to IED devices, further raising concern among authorities.

This development follows a spate of hoax bomb threats in the Delhi-NCR region earlier this week. The Delhi Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), and University College of Medical Science (UCMS) also received bomb threats that were later deemed false. The threats falsely claimed that RDX, capable of a one-kilometre blast radius, had been planted at the sites.

Police agencies continue to monitor the situation and are working to trace the origin of the email threats while reassuring the public that security protocols are in place.
