Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya was unanimously elected as the new Bengal BJP President on Thursday. Bhattacharya succeeded Union MoS for education Dr Sukanta Majumdar.
“I am deeply honoured by this responsibility and the immense trust the party has bestowed upon me. With the unwavering support of our dedicated karyakartas and the blessings of the people of West Bengal, we shall work relentlessly to strengthen BJP’s footprint and fulfil our collective vision of a prosperous, secure, and resurgent Bengal. Together, let’s move forward with unity, resolve, and unwavering commitment!” said Samik Bhattacharya in a post on social media platform “X”.
Samik Bhattacharya was elected to the post unopposed. He submitted his nomination at the BJP office in Salt Lake on Wednesday. Bhattacharya was accompanied by outgoing Bengal President Dr Sukanta Majumdar, and Leader of Opposition in the Bengal Aseembly, Suvendu Adhikari.
"This is a continuous relay race... Earlier, the fight used to occur under my leadership; now the fight will take place under the leadership of a new president... We will continue to fight to uproot Mamata Banerjee's government,” said outgoing Bengal BJP President Dr Sukanta Majumdar congratulating Samik Bhattacharya.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday felicitated their newly elected Bengal President at Science City auditorium. The formal announcement was made in the presence of Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Bhattacharya is set to helm the Bharatiya Janata Party at a crucial juncture in the state’s politics as Bengal gears up for the all important 2026 Bengal Assembly Elections.
