Mother Wanted for Killing 6-Year-Old Son Arrested in India by FBI, Extradited to US

Cindy Rodriguez Singh, a 40-year-old American citizen who fled the United States after allegedly murdering her six-year-old son, has been arrested in India by the FBI in coordination with Indian authorities and Interpol. She has been extradited to the US to face serious criminal charges, including capital murder.

In March 2023, just days after her son, Noel Rodriguez Alvarez, was reported missing, Singh boarded a flight to India with her Indian-origin husband, Arshdeep Singh, and their six other children. Noel was not with them. His whereabouts remain unknown, and investigators believe he was already dead by the time the family left the country.

Singh initially misled investigators, claiming that the child was with his biological father in Mexico. That claim was later proven false, sparking a federal investigation.

Interpol issued a Red Notice for Singh in October 2024, and in July 2025, the FBI placed her on its “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list, raising the reward for her capture from \$25,000 to \$250,000.

Singh became the first mother ever listed for killing her own child in the history of the FBI’s most wanted list. She was ranked fourth at the time of her arrest.

The White House confirmed the arrest on social media, stating, "CAPTURED: The 4th '10 Most Wanted' fugitive has been arrested in the last 7 months, thanks to the Trump Admin. Cindy Singh will face charges of Unlawful Flight To Avoid Prosecution and Capital Murder. Let this be a warning to all CRIMINALS: You will be captured and CHARGED."

FBI Director Kash Patel described the arrest as a success for international cooperation, stating, “The FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list exists for cases just like this – where a dangerous fugitive thought she could run, hide overseas, and escape justice… Thanks to relentless FBI work and our international partnerships, Cindy Singh is back on American soil to face accountability for the horrific murder of her own child.” He added, “Justice has no borders, and today the American people can see that we will never stop pursuing those who prey on the most innocent among us.”

Investigators have revealed disturbing allegations regarding Singh’s treatment of her son. Witnesses claimed Singh believed Noel was “possessed” or “evil” and feared he would harm her newborn twins.

Noel, who suffered from chronic lung disease and required continuous oxygen support, was reportedly neglected, denied food and water, and physically abused. In one incident, Singh allegedly hit him with keys when he tried to drink water. In another, she reportedly claimed to have “sold” him.

On 31 October 2023, Singh was formally charged with capital murder in Tarrant County, Texas. Shortly after, a federal warrant was issued for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

She has now been returned to the US and will be handed over to Texas authorities for prosecution. If convicted, she could face life imprisonment or the death penalty.
