A bomb threat targeting India’s Parliament and at least nine prominent schools across Delhi triggered widespread panic and emergency responses on Monday morning, prompting evacuations and large-scale security checks across the national capital.
According to officials, several schools received threatening emails between 8:30 am and 9:00 am, warning of imminent explosions and invoking separatist slogans. The emails led to swift deployment of Delhi Police, fire services and bomb disposal squads to the affected campuses.
The institutions that reportedly received bomb threat emails include:
• Loreto Convent, Delhi Cantonment
• Venkateshwar Global School, Rohini
• Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri
• Cambridge School, New Friends Colony
• The Indian School, Sadiq Nagar
• CM Shri School, Rohini
• DTEA School, INA
• Bal Bharti School, Rohini
• Manav Sthali School, New Rajinder Nagar
Students and staff were immediately evacuated as precautionary measures while bomb disposal teams began thorough searches of the premises. Police said investigations and security checks are currently underway at all locations.
The threatening email, accessed by media outlets, carried the message: “Delhi will become Khalistan. In memory of Afzal Guru. There will be an explosion at 1:11 pm.”
Signed in the name of “Khalistan National Army”, the email also warned of a possible attack on Parliament later this week. “There will be a blast in Parliament on February 13th at 1:11 pm. Punjab is Khalistan,” the message read.
Security agencies have heightened vigilance around key government installations following the warning.
In a related development, the Patna Civil Court in Bihar also received a bomb threat on Monday morning. Authorities evacuated the court complex and initiated security checks. No explosives have been found so far.
The latest scare comes amid a surge in bomb threat emails targeting schools and public institutions across major Indian cities, many of which have later turned out to be hoaxes.
On January 29, five schools in Delhi received similar bomb threats that were eventually declared false after extensive searches. Those institutions included Loreto Convent in Delhi Cantonment, Don Bosco School in Chittaranjan Park and Carmel Convent campuses in Anand Niketan and Dwarka.
A day earlier, the Dwarka court complex also received a bomb threat that was later confirmed to be a hoax.
Delhi Police officials said investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the repeated emails and identify those responsible. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against individuals found behind hoax threats, which continue to strain emergency services and cause anxiety among parents, students and school administrations.
