A 16-year-old boy from Kandivali has been detained for allegedly assaulting a five-year-old girl. Kandivali Police have registered a case and further investigation is under way.
According to preliminary information, the child was playing near her home when the teenager, who lives in the same neighbourhood, persuaded her to come inside his house. He then allegedly assaulted her.
The incident came to light when a neighbour noticed the girl bleeding and immediately took her to Shatabdi Hospital for medical attention.
Police have taken the teenager into custody. A video circulating locally shows him stating that he had consumed a pill and felt disoriented, though officers have not confirmed this claim.
The case has led to widespread anger in the Lalji Pada locality, where residents gathered to demand strict action. Community members said strong punishment is necessary to prevent such incidents.
