Pakistan's Border Escalation Thwarted: India Responds with Precision Strikes under Operation Sindoor, Destroys Pak Defence Radars

Tensions along the Indo-Pak border have sharply escalated following Pakistan's attempt to target several Indian military installations across Northern and Western India late on Wednesday night, following ‘Operation Sindoor’ that India had launched early in the morning of May 7 to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack. In a calculated and proportionate response, the Indian Armed Forces launched a counter-strike targeting the Defence Radars and systems at multiple locations in Pakistan.
The escalation began with intense and unprovoked artillery shelling by Pakistan across the Line of Control (LoC), targeting civilian areas in Jammu and Kashmir. Heavy mortar and artillery fire was reported in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri, resulting in the death of 16 civilians, including three women and five children. India was compelled to retaliate to suppress further firing and protect civilian lives.
In a major provocation, Pakistan launched a widespread offensive using drones and missiles to strike military bases in Indian cities such as Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, and as far west as Bhuj, confirmed by a press information bureau (PIB) statement issued on Thursday. Indian Integrated Counter-UAS and Air Defence systems successfully intercepted and neutralised these threats, with debris confirming the attempted strikes.
Responding to this coordinated aggression, Indian forces struck back on the morning of May 8 by targeting Pakistani air defence radars and related systems in multiple locations. One key success was the confirmed neutralisation of an air defence installation in Lahore, significantly degrading Pakistan’s retaliatory capability.
Today’s strike was part of ‘Operation Sindoor’, a strategic and covert military initiative launched on May 7, which had already caught Pakistan off guard. In its first phase, Indian forces avoided targeting civilian areas and focused solely on terror infrastructure along the border. Several terror launchpads and militant camps were destroyed with surgical precision, disrupting potential infiltration attempts. 26 people were killed in one of the worst terror attacks on civilians in Kashmir on April 22, following which tensions had been building at the borders between India and Pakistan. India has maintained that the nation will exercise its right to self-defence and also ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice while squarely holding Pakistan-based terror outfits, including Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) responsible for the dastardly attack. With ‘Operation Sindoor’, nine places were targeted in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) by the Indian Armed Forces in a historic joint operation carried out by the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy, first since the 1971 Liberation War.
